Airplane crash kills at least three near Bogotá

A Boeing 747 cargo airplane with destination Miami crashed into a farm just outside Bogotá Monday morning, leaving at least three people dead.

Four crew members are still missing.The Kalitta Air airplane, carrying flowers for export to the United States, took off from Bogotá’s El Dorado airport just before 4AM.

Two minutes after take off it called in an emergency and tried returning to the airport.In the attempt to return to the airport the plane crashed into the house, killing the two family members living in the house, one of them a 14-year old boy.

A woman who was inside the house was seriously injured.Authorities haven’t yet identified the third deceased person.

Rescue teams were able to rescue eight of the eleven crew members. Two people are still missing.

Narrative:
Flight WE164 took off from Bogota (BOG), carrying a cargo of flowers to Miami (MIA) when the crew radioed that they had an engine fire. They attempted to return to the airport, but the plane crashed in a farm field, broke up and caught fire. A farm was demolished in the crash, killing two people inside.
